Go read this Will Wright Interview with the Onion AV Club.

I did a small amount of contract work for TSO, and so got to have a couple of lunches with Will. He’s a very insightful guy — in fact, he craves finding patterns in life and society. Half the time, those patterns go nowhere. Once he said (and I paraphrase), “Have you ever notice, when you’re driving down the road at dusk, there’s a certain tipping point when everyone’s headlights go from off to on?”

He did mention a hilarious Sims story to me. Seems that one of his favorite parts of Sims development was hiring a rap band to play music for the stereo you can buy. This is only amusing, of course, because the team had to explain to the band exactly how to rap in Simlish. All said, the band did a remarkable job, given how lyrically driven rap typically is.
