As expected, Kotaku is all over the latest in the console wars.

The PS3 has launched in Japan and so far…. fewer games have sold than consoles. The clear winner so far… RIIIDGE RACERRRR, with 21K units sold.

As a surprising but perhaps inevitable part of the consoles entering the online age, PlayStation magazine is closing up shop. Simple reason: downloadable demos obviate the need for real-life coasters.

Gamestop expects people to get their preorders by Christmas, but have had to take steps to placate people who won’t be getting their consoles on day one. If you are expecting a launch day PS3, but have been putting off your chance to get the Matrix on DVD — now’s your chance! Anyone whose preorder gets pushed gets a $20 dollar used DVD or game – something that probably wasn’t in the beancounter’s Christmas spreadsheets.

Last but not least: CompUSA = jerks.
