Speaking of the 360 and their sales figures of 600K, one is left with one inescapable conclusion: launching at Christmastime is the worst time to launch a game console. Think about it – they’re at 660K units now, far short of reaching their goal of 2.5M in 90 days and 5 million in 6 months. Most of these are due to problems filling the demand for the hardware, which has plagued pretty much every console launch.

Well, if you’re going to have those issues, wouldn’t it be better to have them in June? That way, your early adopters can purchase the hardware without stepping on the heads of frantic mothers on Black Friday, and they can build buzz and enthusiasm for the coming Christmas season. By the time of tinsel and caroling, hopefully you’re hardware problems are a thing in the past, and hey, maybe you’ll also have gotten some good exclusive game content on the shelves.

Instead, the 360 will be trying to build hype and momentum during the time typically considered dead in the gaming marketplace.

I swear, once I’m in charge, things’ll be different.
